FlashNote End User License Agreement (EULA)

Welcome to FlashNote, a modern cross-browser writing workspace and browser extension (hereinafter referred to as “the Extension” or “Application”). This End User License Agreement (hereinafter referred to as “this Agreement” or “EULA”) is a legally binding contract between you (hereinafter referred to as “User” or “you”) and the developer of this application (hereinafter referred to as “we”, “us”, or “Aicrosoft”, located in Pudong New Area, Shanghai, China) regarding your downloading, installation, configuration, and use of this Application. This Application is licensed, not sold, to you.

Before installing or using this Application from the Chrome Web Store, Microsoft Edge Add-ons, Mozilla Firefox Add-ons, or our official website, please read this Agreement carefully. If you obtain this Application via third-party extension marketplaces, your license is also subject to the respective marketplace’s developer distribution agreement and policies. For data handling rules, please refer to our independently published Privacy Policy.

1. License Grant & Scope of Use

1.1 Scope of License

We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, and revocable license to install, load, and run this Application on compatible devices and modern web browser environments (including Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, etc.) that you own or control, solely for personal or legitimate internal content creation and editing purposes.

This Agreement also applies to any subsequent updates, patches, or supplemental feature modules provided by us, unless accompanied by a separate license agreement.

1.2 100% Free & No Ads Commitment

To empower technical bloggers, writers, researchers, and geeks worldwide, this Application is provided 100% free with all features fully unlocked:

  • Zero Paywalls & Complete Feature Access: Whether independent quick notes (Notes), tree-structured books (Books), Tiptap WYSIWYG 4-mode typography, KaTeX math formulas, interactive Mermaid diagram lightboxes, Blog Direct static site compilation for MagicNote, differential private cloud sync, or lossless vector SVG/PNG export, all capabilities are completely free without functional limits or paywalls;
  • Zero Advertising: The Application contains zero third-party commercial advertisements, banners, or popups, guaranteeing an uninterrupted creative flow;
  • Zero Subscriptions or Hidden Fees: The Application has no in-app purchases (IAP), no recurrent subscription charges, and no hidden monetization schemes.

1.3 Extension Marketplace Special Terms

If you obtain this Application from the Chrome Web Store, Microsoft Edge Add-ons, or Mozilla Firefox Add-ons (hereinafter “Marketplace Providers”), you and Aicrosoft acknowledge and agree that:

  1. This Agreement is concluded solely between you and Aicrosoft, and not with the Marketplace Providers. Aicrosoft is solely responsible for the Application and its content.
  2. Marketplace Providers have no obligation whatsoever to furnish any maintenance or support services with respect to the Application.
  3. Marketplace Providers and their subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of this Agreement. Upon your acceptance of this Agreement, the Marketplace Providers will have the right to enforce this Agreement against you as a third-party beneficiary.

2. User Content, Copyright & Data Integrity

2.1 100% User Content Ownership

  • You retain complete copyright and intellectual property ownership over all notes, books, code snippets, diagrams, and attachments you write or import into FlashNote. Aicrosoft claims no ownership over your creations.
  • You represent and warrant that you hold legitimate copyrights or necessary permissions for all content input into the Application. You agree not to use the Application to produce or distribute unlawful, infringing, or malicious content.

2.2 Local-First Storage & Backup Responsibility

  • Local-First Sandbox: FlashNote operates on a local-first architecture. All content is stored in your browser’s private IndexedDB (Dexie.js) sandbox without centralized server hosting.
  • Backup Obligation: Because browser sandboxes can be purged by browser cleaning routines, profile resets, extension removals, or device failures, you bear the sole responsibility to perform regular backups using the built-in [Export as Markdown ZIP] or [Cloud Sync] tools. Aicrosoft is not liable for data loss caused by failure to maintain backups.

2.3 Blog Direct & MagicNote Disclaimer

  • The “Blog Direct” feature compiles notes into posts/{folder}/{slug}.md structures with YAML FrontMatter compatible with MagicNote, VitePress, and Astro.
  • FlashNote is an authoring tool. Once you publish compiled posts to public platforms (e.g., GitHub, Cloudflare Pages, Vercel), you are solely responsible for website availability, legal compliance, comments, and security. Aicrosoft assumes no liability for external website operations.

3. Intellectual Property & Prohibited Conduct

3.1 Intellectual Property

The Application code, UI/UX designs, Morandi color schemes, and proprietary branding (logo.png, icon.svg) belong exclusively to Aicrosoft. Open-source components (WXT, React, Tiptap, KaTeX, Mermaid, Dexie.js, etc.) remain governed by their respective open-source licenses (MIT, Apache 2.0).

3.2 Prohibited Actions

You agree not to:

  1. Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Application to bypass licensing checks or extract proprietary code;
  2. Re-package the core codebase and proprietary branding to distribute identical competitive software on public web stores;
  3. Exploit extension permissions to inject malicious payloads or eavesdrop on other browser tabs.

4. No Warranty (Disclaimer)

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE APPLICATION IS PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” BASIS, WITH ALL FAULTS AND WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. AICROSOFT EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, MERCHANTABILITY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that math formula parsing or Mermaid rendering will be completely free from formatting deviations in extreme non-standard syntax, nor that the Application will function without interruption across untested experimental browser versions.

5. Limitation of Liability & Zero Monetary Damages

TO THE EXTENT NOT PROHIBITED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL AICROSOFT, ITS AFFILIATES, DEVELOPERS, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, INDIRECT, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA LOSS, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION.

AS THIS APPLICATION IS PROVIDED 100% FREE OF CHARGE AND WITHOUT ANY LICENSE FEES, AICROSOFT’S TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THIS AGREEMENT OR THE USE OF THIS APPLICATION SHALL BE ZERO (RMB 0 / $0.00). YOUR USE OF THE APPLICATION IS AT YOUR SOLE RISK. IF YOU ARE DISSATISFIED WITH THE APPLICATION, YOUR SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDY IS TO DISCONTINUE USING AND UNINSTALL THE APPLICATION.

6. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

6.1 Governing Law

This Agreement is governed by the laws of the People’s Republic of China, excluding conflict of law rules and the CISG.

6.2 Dispute Resolution

Any dispute arising from or related to this Agreement shall be resolved through friendly consultation. If unresolved within 30 days, either party may submit the dispute to the competent People’s Court in Pudong New Area, Shanghai, China.
