Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to the ibook (悅讀/悦读) application (hereinafter referred to as “the Application”).

1. Information Collection and Use

To provide you with a safe, advertisement-free, and distraction-free eBook reading and text-to-speech narration experience, our data processing policies are detailed below:

A. User Data and Content (Local Storage & Private iCloud Sync)

All personal data and content you create, manage, or import within the Application, including:

  • Imported book files (TXT/EPUB)
  • Reading progress and history
  • Saved bookmarks and personal annotations/notes
  • Personal profile info (nickname, title, avatar)

are stored locally on your device via the SwiftData framework. If you log in to the same Apple ID across multiple devices and enable iCloud, this data will sync securely and seamlessly via Apple’s official private iCloud network (CloudKit). Neither the developer nor any third party can access, collect, or store your core application data.

B. Third-Party Services and Analytics

  • No-Ad Policy: The Application is ad-free, contains no third-party advertising platform SDKs, and does not collect any device identifiers for advertising purposes.
  • No Analytics Tracking: The Application does not contain any third-party analytics or user behavior tracking frameworks. We do not track your reading habits, preferences, or session logs.
  • On-Device Text-to-Speech (TTS): The TTS narration feature relies entirely on Apple’s high-fidelity on-device Speech Synthesis engine. All voice processing is performed locally on your device; no book content or voice data is ever sent to external servers.

C. App Store Services

The Application interacts with Apple App Store servers only when necessary to verify in-app purchases (if applicable in future versions) and provide essential system integrations.

2. Data Security and User Control

  • Security Protections: All local data and private iCloud sync data are protected by iOS system-level sandboxing and security encryption mechanisms.
  • Data Deletion: You are the sole owner of your data. You can delete all local data associated with the Application at any time by uninstalling it from your device. To delete synced iCloud database files, navigate to iOS “Settings -> Apple ID -> iCloud -> Manage Account Storage”.
  • Backup Advice: Because the Application does not use a centralized backend server, the developer cannot recover data lost due to device loss, damage, accidental deletion, or factory resets without iCloud backups. We strongly recommend keeping iCloud backups enabled on your device.

3. Children’s Privacy

The Application does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. It does not require any user account registration and is safe for general audiences of all ages.

4. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the “Last Updated” date below. Continued use of the Application after changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
